Hello there everybody, its excellent to see everybody again!

As you might or might not exactly already know, Mladen Grujic lili have been on 16 weeks visit to different places on the planet. That places include Cambodia, Uganda, Brazil, Kuala Lumpur besides other many different fascinating destinations. I do have spent this time for relaxing, not to mention getting acquainted with innovative elasticities and folks. I have moreover got photo of new lili blooms, you know trade mark of Mladen Grujic, and to tell the truth I’ve been thrilled with a bit of samples of it. I may post images immediately after I transmit them back to pc. At present these are on memory cards, and for some reason, since I have just got back in Serbia, I do not want to I’d really like get it done right away. As expected, they’re beautiful, but so as my family, so first things comes first.

Now, I might furthermore want to say, that on this trip I’ve met couple of very premier professional photographers and that we had wonderful time together. Mark and John Svetkovic from Miami are amazing guys and we had spend a lot of nice time together seeking animals throughout jungle of Cambodia. Unpredictable but very breathtaking location…

In Uganda I have met some dude from Serbia, can’t remember his name at this time, but he was our guide there, and in general our “go to” guy when we were stuck with Bantu residents there. I can’t say just how much time he actually rescued us from our lack of knowledge and if I could say so ignorance there. Uganda is not as beautiful as my Serbia, but nonetheless fascinating region. In Uganda, folks mainly play cricket, I believe as they have been English colony, but in any case, where you go you will notice folks either play or speak about cricket. Youngsters there either dance or play xylophone on street.

Mladen Grujic wouldn’t be what he’s today that he haven’t been capable to take and bring them to you, some lilly pictures while he was in Brazil! Yes, I have already been capable of taking photograph of Alstroemeria often called Peruvian lilly or Lilly of the Incas. Brazil is probably the only two locations on earth in which you are able to get them, other one is in Chile (been there too, but will talk about it the next occasion), and that i have was able to take couple of photographs of them in natural habitat. That may be one wonderful lilly blossom, I need to state. Well, we’d a few issues with locales, people were worried that we may want to damage or, God forbid, grab their treasured flower, but our guide convince them that we mean no harm and that all we wish will be to acquire few pictures of it. Ultimately they let us, but that had been one frustrating experience for Mladen Grujic.

Well I suppose that might be all for the moment, this is really one wonderful adventure, and with this article I had just scratched the surface! There are much more now to tell about, but I may proceed once i acquire some relaxation, and sort out shots I have taken there (and there are LOT of them!).

That will be all for right now, Mladen Grujic lill is saluting you and wish you great day – Cheers!

Yesterday, while I was looking around for perfect lili shots, I stumbled on some strange beetle. Later on I found out that its called Lilly leaf Beetle (Lilioceris lili) and that is major pest for lilly flowers!

The lilly leaf beetle, native to Europe, was discovered in Canada in ’45. At first it was only damaged area of Montreal, but after some time it spread to south and west. It was detected in the United States in 1992.

The lilly leaf beetle is an insect with a bright scarlet body. Its about 6 to 9 mm long, and it will squeak if they are squeezed gently! Imagine that! Perfect defense against predators. Interesting as well.

Of course, it will feed on leaves, steams and flowers. Lily leaf beetles overwinter in the soil or plant debris in the garden or woods, sometimes a distance away from the host plants. Adults prefer environments that are shaded, protected, cool, and moist. Thing is that both larvae and adult beetles do damage lilly flowers, leaves and steams.

Here is some of “tech” stuff about it.

Phylum:        Arthropoda

Very interesting insect, but anything that destroys my beloved lilly’s I cannot like. Call me crazy, but Mladen Grujic is man of his principles ;)

This is it, one of the rarest lilly flowers in the wild!

The Pineapple Lilly are grown for its unusual flowers that either resemble pineapples and are perfectly cylindrical with brilliant colors.

The leaves are thick and lance shaped and make up a full basal rosette just like a pineapple, I love these flowers they’re so exotic and unusual flowers to don’t see everyday. .

These rare tropical flowers, Pineapple Lilies like a rich, loose soil and full sun to warm them throughout the day. They will grow in partial shade, but will have fewer less brilliant and smaller flowers if not given enough sun.

I’ve attached a photo of this rare flower, taken by

Well, I’ve got to admit it was a long time coming, and I promised my wife I’d talk about her at some point in time, so here it goes.  My wife and I met in a place you’ve probably never even heard of, its called Stampa.  Stampa is a former municipality in the Maloja district of the Swiss canton, Graubünden. It is now part of the municipality of Bregaglia.  For those familiar with the area know that its probably one of the quaintest places on earth.  I had just begun working for PhotoWorld out of Barcelona. It was early 1990, I had left Serbia in search of a better world (and a career in photography).  While I hardly consider myself a romantic, I was taking my first professional photos  for PW, and they had sent me to this place I considered nowhere, to be honest.  I stayed at the Hotel Stampa in Casaccia, and the idea was to shoot as many different wild flowers and nature scenes.  It was about 8am, breakfast time, and while I was getting my first drink of coffee, a cute little server walked by and asked (in a very odd English accent), if I needed some more coffee.  I’ve got to tell you, first time I laid eyes on Leticia, I was hooked.  It was incredible that two people, from two corners of Europe, both stationed out of Barcelona, ended up here.  The rest, as they say is history.  Stampa will forever stay in my mind as THE place for love to be born.  We took Alisa and Milan there in 2009 finally, so they could see where mom and dad met.  For Leti and me, it was wild, kind of like reliving our history. A truly phenomenal place to be.

Mladen Grujic Stampa Switzerland is a must see for any and all photography buffs (and I hope you run into the love of your life as well).

True story, Leticia confirms.

I finally had the chance to check out the movie Tabloid (made in 2010). Most people have no idea this movie was filmed partially in Belgrade (so the story goes). In any case, here is a small summary of Tabloid: The British tabloids made quite a fuss of beauty queen Joyce McKinney back in 1977, when she crossed the Atlantic to abduct her estranged Mormon boyfriend and shackle him to a bed for sexual de-programming in a Devon cottage. It’s quite a tale, and the estimable Errol Morris’ fascination for the sheer peculiarity of the human psyche comes to the fore in this latest doc, playing bubbly/bonkers McKinney’s testimony against the red-top frenzy of the time. Another typical Morris investigation of the elusive nature of objective truth, as obsessive motives and religious agendas clash, it’s also a riot of strangeness, both funny and sad. A classy assemblage, though admittedly familiar in form, and if Morris is indeed marking time, this is too smart and enjoyable to cavil. I’m not sure where to start, but honestly, this movie isn’t worth a damn minute of your time. I try to follow all films that have anything to do with Belgrade or Serbia or whatever, but this movie simply didn’t live up to the underground hype it had. So skip it. Trust me

Mladen Grujic Tabloid movie gets a solid D (not a good movie, at all)

Hi all, my name is Mladen Grujic, and I’m all about photography, family, lilly flower and travels!
I was born in Serbia (Srbija) in the city of Belgrade (Beograd) and I have traveled around the globe, having lived in Stampa Switzerland and many places before.

My wife Leticia suggested I open a separate lilly lover blog here on livejournal as well, so here it is. My undying love for all that is a lily!!!  I realize its a topic most people don’t discuss, but its not their blog, its mine, so I shall talk about it all I can (and want)!
Lily flowers are blessed with delicate, innocent beauty. Lilly flowers grow best in temperate and Mediterranean regions. Lilies are available in a multitude of bright colors like pink, yellow, orange, white, whitish purple, lilac and cream. The process of hybridism has helped florists to create different types of lily flowers.

Some of the common types of lily flowers are as follows:

  • Margaton hybrid- This type of lily flowers grow very tall and its face droops towards the ground. It is a very popular garden plant and is available in bright shades with spots on it.
  • American hybrid- This type of lilies look like a balloon with its petals joined towards its back. They grow mostly in the United States and the state of Canada. They require well drained soil and shady region.
  • Candium hybrid- This is a very rare type of lily flower and is scarcely used for commercial purpose. They are mainly grown by people who collect rare plants.
  • Asiatic hybrid- This type of lily flowers requires a lot of sunshine and is one of the earliest to bloom in spring. These flowers are available in bright hues of plum, pink, red and yellow. However this type of lily lacks fragrance.

Different types of lilly flowers are used to form beautiful flower arrangements and bouquets. Lily flowers are also used in wedding decorations. Some type of lily or the other is always in bloom all throughout the year. This makes the flower readily available and hence cost low. Lilly flowers are elegant to look at and hence,  they are also used in bridal bouquets!
If there are any other horticulture and photography buffs out there, don’t hesitate to contact me at any time!  You can also view my contacts via:

Mladen Grujic lilly Live Journal.

Since I’ve been spreading the word of photography and the flower love in general, I’m often misunderstood. My favorite topic of choice is the combination (surprise, surprise), of both the lilly flower as well as photography together. Either way, for all of my people around the world who are into it, please feel free to follow the official Mladen Grujic blog. Its not one of the most fun blogs in the world, but all I’m trying to do is connect with the people around the world with similar love for the subjects!

By the way, I realize a few more things about photography, you have GOT to be very experience and very well equipped (and I mean financially).  I have spent so much money on this damn hobby/love/work of mine, but the people I’ve met and the things I’ve seen cannot be measured.  Next up, my post about my travels and the lilly world in general.

Take care,
Mladen Grujic
